City council adopts fee schedule for zoo and game park
At its meeting yesterday, the Chemnitz City Council approved a new scale of charges for Chemnitz Zoo and the Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park. This is the first time since 2009 that admission prices have been adjusted.
In future, adults will pay 9.50 euros for admission to the zoo (previously 6 euros) and concessions 5 euros instead of 3 euros. Family tickets (two adults with children belonging to the family) will cost 27 euros in future (previously 13 euros). Admission to the wildlife park will rise from 3 euros to 4.50 euros for adults and from 2 euros to 3 euros for concessions. The combined tickets for both facilities will be cancelled.
Instead, there will be separate annual tickets for the Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park and the zoo as well as free educational sessions for school classes and kindergarten groups, for which only the entrance fee will be charged.
A special ticket including an annual pass will be offered for dog owners, as a trial phase has shown that visiting the zoo with a dog generates new visitor groups. Handcart hire in the zoo will be subject to a charge from January, while hire in the wildlife enclosure will remain free of charge for the time being.
The adjustments will come into force on 15 January 2025 and take into account increased costs, particularly for energy, animal feed and maintenance, as well as the desire for family-friendly rates and an expanded educational offer.
