City completes access road to the new Siemens plant in the "Wasserschänke" industrial park on Leipziger Strasse ahead of schedule
Traffic restrictions on Leipziger Straße will be lifted again tomorrow
The road construction and civil engineering works for the traffic connection to the "Wasserschänke" industrial and commercial area in the Röhrsdorf district of Chemnitz on Leipziger Straße were completed five weeks ahead of the contractually agreed deadline.
The final construction acceptance by the city's civil engineering department is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday. The traffic restrictions on Leipziger Strasse at the level of the new Siemens building that were necessary during the construction work will then be lifted. Thanks to a perfectly coordinated construction process and favourable weather conditions, the construction of the access road to the industrial park progressed quickly. According to the civil engineering department, the cooperation with all those involved and the coordination of the individual services went smoothly.
In mid-March of this year, the city began the traffic development of the new Siemens building from Leipziger Strasse. The connection was made parallel to the ongoing work for the new Siemens plant and the inner access road of the industrial estate. In the area between Heinrich-Heine-Straße and Wasserschänkenstraße, a direct connection to Leipziger Straße was created at the level of the Siemens site. The carriageway was widened here to provide a left-turn lane towards the city centre. The company commissioned with the construction work also reorganised field access roads.
The access road construction on Leipziger Straße extended over a length of around 300 metres. The road was closed on one side of Leipziger Straße. The construction contract for the 310,000 euro access road was awarded to HSE Bau GmbH from Glauchau.
