City archive open with restrictions
Due to the update of the Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance (dated 30 October 2020), the city archive (reading room, Aue 16, and building file archive, Reichsstraße 1a) is open with restrictions.
The reading room of the city archive in the Aue 16 building is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm. Visits are only possible by appointment and after written confirmation of the appointment. Bookings can be made by telephone on 0371 488 4702 or by e-mail to stadtarchiv.benutzung(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. The necessary hygiene rules, in particular the wearing of a face mask, must be observed.
The building file archive in the Reichsstraße 1a building is also open with restrictions. Access to files is also only possible by prior appointment and with a confirmed written appointment. Appointments can be made by dialling the service telephone number 115. Compliance with hygiene rules is also mandatory here.
Please note: No direct sales of printed matter, anniversary newspapers or copies are currently possible at the City Archive, Aue 16. However, the requested items can be sent by post. In this regard, please contact us in writing by letter or email.
