City archive closed until 8 October
The Chemnitz City Archive in Haus Aue 16 must remain closed to users and visitors until Wednesday, 8 October and will be available again from Thursday, 9 October.
Originally, the necessary closure period was planned from 18 to 26 September due to technical work to remove and return archive material in connection with the refitting of a storage room in the city archive (PM 504 from 10/09/2014). The reason for the necessary extension of the closing time is that it has become apparent during the clearing out of the storeroom that the floor of the much-used room urgently needs a coat of paint to preserve the floor and must be sanded beforehand. After painting, the floor must remain open for around four to five days before it can be walked on again and, above all, subjected to new loads. Only then can the new shelves be installed and the archive material put back into storage.
