Citizens' workshop on Altendorf railway station

On Thursday, 2 July 2015, the City Planning Office invites you to a citizens' workshop on the development of the former Chemnitz-Altendorf railway station site from 6 pm (start 6.30 pm) at the Environmental Centre (Henriettenstraße 5). The first design scenarios and variants will be presented by the planning office Station C23 and information on future planning and the next steps in the public participation process will be provided. In addition, concepts and ideas for the area and the neighbourhood will be discussed in detail with planners, local stakeholders and citizens.

Three main topics will define the evening and will be presented by external stakeholders with short contributions:

The first presentation will outline trends in new forms of housing, particularly for individual builders, building owner associations, conversion of existing buildings and home ownership on a low-budget basis and under climate-friendly and energy requirements.

Sebastian Michaelis from Chemnitzer Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, as the contact person for commercial space management, will provide some information on future ideas and current examples in this area.

Toralf Zinner from the Bürgerbahnhof Leipzig-Plagwitz initiative will then demonstrate urban development from below as participative and process-based planning using the example of the conversion of a former goods station in Leipzig-Plagwitz.
