Citizens' hotline coordinates volunteers

Technology needed above all - CWE supports companies with damage assessment

Numerous volunteers came to the affected areas at the weekend to lend a hand: filling and stacking sandbags, helping to pump out cellars and making roads passable again. Even now that the water has receded, there is still a great willingness to help. People affected by the floods can therefore continue to call the citizens' hotline today for support.

The citizens' helpline and, from tomorrow, the public authority number 115 will coordinate these enquiries and offers and bring helpers and those seeking help together. Since today, a number of helpers have been supporting the ASR in its clean-up work in the city.

At the moment, support is particularly in demand for clearing up: equipment for drying cellars, equipment for rinsing out and cleaning contaminated buildings and areas is being sought. Anyone interested should call 0371/ 488 33 44 today (until 8 pm) or D 115 tomorrow.

The coordinators are asking people to refrain from donating items such as furniture etc. at the moment. What is currently in demand is mainly technology. Support is also welcome on the city's donation account. (see PM no. 323)

The CWE is available to provide information to companies affected by the flood on the service number 0371-36 60 222 or by e-mail at kunce@cwe-chemnitz.de.
