Citizens' dialogue on the planned extension of the tram line

On Thursday, 13 June, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., interested parties are invited to a public dialogue at Stadtbad Chemnitz, Mühlenstraße 27, event room on the upper floor.
The concept of the street-level railway line and the planning process for the tram network extension in the direction of Zeisigwald and Reichenbrand will be presented.
The event is being organised jointly by the City of Chemnitz's Transport and Civil Engineering Department, Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG and the NUMIC project team (New Urban Mobility Awareness in Chemnitz, BMBF research project). Barrier-free access is available.
Anyone wishing to take part in the event entitled "Using the road together - citizens' dialogue on the road-bound railway structure" is requested to register via the City of Chemnitz's participation portal by 11 June.
Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
In March 2022, Chemnitz City Council decided to expand the tram network in Chemnitz (B-283/2021), thus laying the foundation for the project. The planning of the tram extension in the direction of Zeisigwald and Reichenbrand is being commissioned by Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG. This marks the start of two major projects for the mobility of tomorrow. Planning for the Zeisigwald tram line has already begun, while the plans for Reichenbrand are expected to start at the end of this year.
The public dialogue will include an explanation of the principle of the flush tram line and the planning process for the extension of the tram network in the direction of Zeisigwald and thus the basic procedure for such planning. In addition to presentations in the event hall, there will be an accompanying programme in the foyer. Participants are invited to put questions to experts from the Transport and Civil Engineering Office and Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG.
The evening will also offer the opportunity to take part in a survey on the topic of citizen participation as part of the NUMIC project, try your hand at being a transport planner using a model and experience the planning process with virtual reality technology (VR glasses). Lots* Gesellschaft für verändernde Kommunikation mbH will guide the programme and moderate the discussion.
