Citizens' dialogue on stage 4 of the Chemnitz model

Information event on 4 November, from 6 to 8 pm, online and at the Carlowitz-Congresscenter Chemnitz

On Thursday, 4 November, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the City of Chemnitz will present the current status of the variant study to find a route for stage 4 of the Chemnitz model (northern extension to Limbach-Oberfrohna) at a public dialogue. The investigation area concerns the third and fourth of five planned planning approval sections: from Bornaer Straße to the connection to the railway track to Limbach-Oberfrohna.

Representatives of the City of Chemnitz, the commissioned planning offices, the Central Saxony Transport Association (VMS) and CVAG will provide information about the project and answer questions. All citizens are invited to ask their questions about the project and share their suggestions and ideas.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be split into an in-person and an online part. Up to 40 people can attend live on site in the Carlowitz Congress Centre Chemnitz, Vulcanus room, in compliance with the currently applicable corona measures (currently 3G proof, contact tracing, wearing mouth and nose protection up to the seat). Registration is required. This is now possible via the commissioned communications office Lots by telephone on 0176/20279932 or by email to kramer(at)lots.de.

The dialogue event will also be broadcast live on Sachsen Fernsehen and can be followed via a live stream on the City of Chemnitz website. A chat will also be set up there, where questions can be asked live. The citizens' dialogue will be recorded and can also be viewed later on www.chemnitz.de .

Background: Together with Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachsen (VMS), the city of Chemnitz is planning stage 4 of the Chemnitz model, the northern extension to Limbach-Oberfrohna. Stage 4 is the most extensive of all expansion stages of the Chemnitz model with a new 16-kilometre-long line and is to run in the direction of Leipziger Straße as far as Limbach-Oberfrohna. Planning for the expansion was resumed in 2020 by the project sponsor VMS. The VMS was awarded the corresponding contract for this by city council resolution B-201/2019. Due to the large number of urban concerns of the city of Chemnitz (including the Röhrsdorf district), the city of Limbach-Oberfrohna (including the Kändler district) and the municipality of Hartmannsdorf, it was agreed with the project sponsor VMS that the city of Chemnitz would carry out the planning support for the line determination as part of the preliminary planning.

Detailed information on the project can be found here.
