Citizen service centres in the villages closed until the end of September
The citizen service centres in the towns of Einsiedel, Euba, Grüna, Klaffenbach, Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain, Mittelbach, Röhrsdorf and Wittgensdorf will be temporarily closed with immediate effect, i.e. until the end of September.
Since mid-April 2023, the citizen service centres in the localities have only been staffed to a very limited extent. On the one hand, this is due to staffing problems in the citizen service centre, mainly due to high sickness rates, and on the other hand, to the increasing demand for travel documents due to the growing number of residents, especially refugees from Ukraine.
Most recently, 30 to 40 per cent of clerks in the Citizens' Service were absent, which led to noticeable restrictions. In order to maintain operations at the main office in the Bürgerhaus am Wall, staff were also withdrawn from other citizen service centres.
For urgent matters, such as applying for identity documents during the holiday period, those affected can contact meldebehoerde(at)stadt-chemnitz.de by email. The authority will process all enquiries in order of urgency. It is also possible to have completed documents collected by authorised representatives if the relevant powers of attorney are available.
