Citizen information from the social welfare office: Application for subsidy for holiday lunches in after-school centres can still be submitted until 30 November 2014

As the end of the month approaches, the City of Chemnitz Social Welfare Office would like to draw attention to the fact that 30 November 2014 is the deadline by which entitled persons can submit an application for the subsidy granted to pupils for holiday lunches in after-school care centres. The support was approved by the Chemnitz City Council at its meeting on 24 September 2014 with the approval of the "Guideline of the City of Chemnitz on the subsidy for communal lunches at after-school care centres during the school holidays for beneficiaries of the education and participation package (Holiday Lunch Guideline)".

This means that pupils with a statutory entitlement to benefits from the education and participation package can now also receive voluntary benefits for communal lunchtime meals during the school holidays if they attend an after-school care facility. As with the statutory benefit, the personal contribution to be paid by those entitled is 1 euro per lunch portion.

Notes on the application: To date, only very few applications for a subsidy for holiday lunches have been received by the Social Welfare Office. All entitled persons who wish to apply now must submit their application to the Social Welfare Office by 30 November 2014 as stipulated in the guidelines; applications submitted after this date can no longer be considered.

The Social Welfare Office is responsible for granting all entitled persons, i.e. even if they receive the statutory education and participation package benefits from the Chemnitz Job Centre.

An application is required for the benefits to be granted. The application form and an information sheet are available in the social services customer portal of the Social Welfare Office in the Moritzhof Citizens' and Administration Centre, Bahnhofstraße 53 and in the city's citizen service points. The form and information sheet are also available online at www.chemnitz.de. The application can be submitted retrospectively from 1 January 2014 for the holidays in the previous school year, including the summer holidays. The application deadline is 30 November 2014.
