Cinema and concerts on the theatre square
City of Chemnitz and Meisterwerke Produktion sign contract
The theatre square in Chemnitz will play a central role in the Capital of Culture year 2025. This will also include the "Chemnitz Film Nights" brand in the summer. Mayor of Culture Dagmar Ruscheinsky and Markus Richter, Managing Director of Meisterwerke Produktion, have signed a three-year contract to this effect, including an option to extend the contract by two years.
In the Capital of Culture year 2025, the city of Chemnitz will let Meisterwerke Produktion use the space from July to the beginning of September. A utilisation period of 50 consecutive days has been agreed for each of the following years.
Meisterwerke Produktion, which has taken over the "Filmnächte Chemnitz" brand from the previous rights holder and organiser of the cinema evenings, is planning both concerts and a cinema programme. Both programmes are to be developed independently of each other, each with its own financial backing from various partners. Other event formats, also in cooperation with the neighbouring residents of the square, are possible.
Markus Richter has accompanied the "Chemnitz Film Nights" as production manager from the very beginning. In recent years, his company has been responsible for the technical realisation of the summer festival on Theaterplatz.
