On Monday, 12 January, from 1 p.m., employees of the City of Chemnitz Parks Department will be taking down the Christmas tree on Chemnitz Market Square. For safety reasons, among others, it is not possible to cut down the tree in the traditional sense. This will be realised with a heavy-duty crane and a lifting platform.
The dismantling of the Christmas decorations, including the pyramid, figures and festive lighting, will begin on the morning of 12 January and continue until 13 January.
The greenery will once again be donated to Chemnitz Zoo. It will mainly be used for the design of the enclosures, for decoration and to keep the animals occupied.
