Christmas tree is taken down
On 9 January, around 1 pm - dismantling of the Christmas decorations begins
On Monday, 9 January, at around 1 p.m., employees of the City of Chemnitz Parks Department will remove the Christmas tree on Chemnitz Market Square. Due to the market fountain, it is no longer possible to cut down the tree in the traditional sense.
After the tree has been removed, the trunk parts are stored to be used later for repairs in the public green spaces. The greenery will benefit Chemnitz Zoo. It is mainly used for the design of the enclosures, for decoration and to keep the animals occupied.
The dismantling of the Christmas decorations on the market and in the city centre also starts on this day. These include the pyramid, music box, candle arch, large figures and festive lighting. This will take a few days.
