Christmas tree for the Chemnitz Christmas market is coming
Arrival of the tree at the market on 11 November, late afternoon
On Saturday, 11 November, in the late afternoon, the Christmas tree for this year's Chemnitz Christmas market will be delivered to the market square.
The tree will be felled on Saturday by employees of Techno-Farm und Service GmbH and transported on a low-loader during a journey lasting several hours. The waiting time until the tree arrives in Chemnitz can be shortened again this year with a barbecue and mulled wine at the market.
The Christmas tree was found in Jägersgrün in the Tannenbergstal forest district, Adorf forest district of the Sachsenforst state enterprise. The approx. 25 metre high spruce is estimated to be around 40 to 50 years old. Its exact age can only be determined after felling based on the annual rings. Around 20 to 22 metres will be visible on the Chemnitz market, as the tree will be sunk into the three-metre-deep ground socket.
The search for an evenly grown tree with healthy needles was not easy again this year. Due to the drought in recent years, it is difficult to find a tree with healthy needles. In addition to the tree's attractive appearance, suitable conditions must also be provided for felling and removal using heavy equipment.
