Christmas tree for the Chemnitz Christmas market has been found
Arrival of the tree at the market on 6 November, in the afternoon
The Christmas tree that will be on the market this year at Christmas time was found in the Adorf forest district of the Sachsenforst state enterprise - with the support of the forest district manager. The spruce, which is around 30 metres tall, is about 80 years old. Its exact age can only be determined after felling based on the annual rings. A maximum of 25 metres will be visible on the market, as the tree will be sunk into the three-metre-deep ground socket.
The search for an evenly grown tree with healthy needles was not easy this year. Due to the drought in recent years, it was difficult to find a tree with healthy needles. In addition to the tree's attractive appearance, the conditions for felling and transporting it with heavy equipment must also be met.
The Christmas tree will be felled by employees of Techno-Farm und Service GmbH on Saturday, 6 November, and made ready for transport on a low-loader for the journey of several hours.
The Christmas tree will be delivered to the Chemnitz market square in the late afternoon. The waiting time until it arrives can be shortened again this year with a barbecue and mulled wine.
