Christmas tree and co. - stars of evolution
Events on Friday, 2/9/16 December from 3 - 4.30 pm each day
How did a wobbly algae become a glamorous Christmas tree and how do the rings get into the trunk? To answer these questions, the Museum für Naturkunde is decorating its tree together with guests through the history of the earth. Each piece of jewellery on the tree represents an era in the evolution of the Christmas tree. Families can take a look through scientific glasses and learn interactively how the Christmas tree has developed over the millennia - from the first bacterium to the age of the dinosaurs and today's Christmas tree.
Participants will create their own personal Christmas tree decoration with a fossil as a souvenir.
Location: TIETZ, meeting point at the Petrified Forest
Interactive event for families (suitable for children aged 6 and over)
Admission: 4 euros, children and young people (up to 18 years) and students of Chemnitz University of Technology free (buy ticket at the museum ticket office, 1st floor)
