Christmas parcels for children are packed
Invitation for journalists: on 4 December, 3.30 pm, Clausstraße 10/12
On Thursday, 4 December at 3.30 pm, the members of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Board of the Johanneum Children and Youth Foundation will once again meet to pack Christmas parcels for children. The traditional "Johanneum Christmas" campaign will take place on the premises of Grundstücks- und Gebäudewirtschafts-Gesellschaft mbH (GGG), Clausstraße 10/12.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend.
This year, the children and young people were able to make specific wishes so that the gifts correspond to their age and individual needs and bring joy.
More than 300 wish lists were received. Thanks to the support of the business community and other public institutions, all wishes can be fulfilled.
Handing over the gifts
The festive handover takes place in cooperation with the independent organisations whose children in care have submitted their wish lists.
The presents will be handed over on the following dates:
- 9 December - Seaside Residenz Hotel Chemnitz, Bernsdorfer Straße 2, for gift-giving for children of the independent organisation Freundeskreis "Indira Gandhi" e. V.
- 11 December - Chemnitz City Mission
- 15 December - Christmas party of the Delphin socio-educational care service
Representatives of the press are welcome to make a note of the dates and will be informed of the exact times in advance. However, we ask for your understanding that participation and photography are only possible to a limited extent.
The other gifts will be delivered directly to the children and young people individually by the participating organisations.
More than presents: education and prospects
In addition to the Christmas campaign, the foundation supports numerous projects, including the Johanneum Academy. It offers socially disadvantaged children educational programmes, sports and creative activities during the holidays. The programme is complemented by the annual MINTFit camp, funded by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs and Civil Law. The aim is to arouse curiosity, strengthen social skills and promote the children's self-esteem.
The "Johanneum" Children and Youth Foundation has a long history: it was initiated by Carl Christian Hübner back in 1855 to open up opportunities for children from socially disadvantaged families. When it was re-established in 2002, it became the first legally independent
municipal foundation in the city of Chemnitz.
The foundation gladly accepts donations and endowments so that it can continue to provide effective help in the future.
