On Thursday, 12 December at 5 pm, children from the Chemnitz children's home "Horizont", an institution of the "Indira Gandhi" Friends' Association, will meet with the City of Chemnitz's Children and Youth Representative, Ute Spindler, and the Christmas messengers of the Chemnitz Schmidt-Rottluff Lions Club for a Christmas tree meeting in the foyer of the town hall, Markt 1.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited.
The Christmas messengers have vouchers in their luggage. These will enable the children to design youth rooms in the children's home. The children came up with the ideas themselves and voted on them together, and now they will realise them.
In December 2022, the Children and Youth Officer, Ute Spindler, launched the Christmas Tree Meeting project at Chemnitz Town Hall with the Chemnitz Schmidt-Rottluff Lions Club. Together with the artist Stephanie Brittnacher, for example, the Chemnitz Wimmelbuch was sponsored with donations from the Lions Club Chemnitz Schmidt-Rottluff as a welcome gift from the Babylotsen for the city's youngest children.
For almost 30 years, the Chemnitz Schmidt-Rottluff Lions Club has taken the motto of the international Lions organisation "We serve" as an opportunity to get involved and do good. It supports Chemnitz associations and organisations for non-profit, primarily charitable purposes, as well as individuals in Chemnitz. Since 1996, almost 560,000 euros have been raised thanks to donations and other contributions.
