Choir festival from 1 to 3 July 2022 in Chemnitz

Co-operation agreement between the City of Chemnitz, the Association of German Concert Choirs LV Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt/Thuringia and the Saxon Music Council was signed today

Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, the President of the Association of German Concert Choirs Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt/Thuringia (VDKC) Claudia Keibler-Willner and the Managing Director of the Saxon Music Council (SMR) Torsten Tannenberg today signed a co-operation agreement for thechsischer Musikrat (SMR) Torsten Tannenberg today signed a co-operation agreement for the State Choir Festival of the Association of German Concert Choirs and the "Saxon-Czech CHORAL WORLDS" of the Saxon Music Council.

The events will take place from 1 to 3 July 2022 in Chemnitz with numerous concerts by various choirs and workshops. Events are also planned in the Chemnitz cultural region.

The choir festival includes a varied VDKC concert programme in and around Chemnitz and is therefore dedicated to choir lovers in the region. The Saxon-Czech CHORAL WORLDS in the music school and Chemnitz City Hall are meetings, coaching, ad hoc singing, workshops, competitions and concerts all rolled into one. More than 2,000 singers from the Czech Republic and Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia will be guests in Chemnitz.

CHORWELTEN has invited Carsten Gerlitz (Berlin), Dita Kosmáková (CZ), Michal Hájek (CZ), Lorenz Maierhofer (Styria), Prof. André Schmidt (Weimar), Matthias Schmidt (Hesse) and Berit Walther (Jena) as coaches and jurors and will offer exciting topics in more than 50 workshops.

The plan is to make the city of Chemnitz sing and resound in many places. A choral symphony concert will draw attention to the high standard of concert and chamber choirs in the three federal states and the Czech Republic.

It will also showcase the diversity of choral music and choir formations - from exquisite chamber choirs to children's and youth choirs and large singing academies. At the same time, various events are planned to motivate the people of Chemnitz and the region to sing. In addition to concerts in shopping centres, musical city tours and a singing chain through the city centre are also planned.

At the end of the event, all those involved invite you to the big family concert on Sunday, 3 July 2022, 3 p.m. on the Schlossteichinsel.
