Children's festival at the zoo on 3 October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Wednesday 3 October - the Day of German Unity - the children's festival will once again be celebrated at Chemnitz Zoo. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be lots of hands-on activities for young and old.
This year, the theme of the children's festival is "A bouquet for Chemnitz" to mark the city's anniversary. The festival programme includes lots of great activities all about animals. At five activity stands, children will learn about birds from all over the world in a fun way. There will also be guided tours on various topics, e.g. on the meerkats.
They can climb, jump, craft, design and play to their heart's content. Whether on the climbing wall, on the bouncy castle or at the craft stand - the children can show what they are made of everywhere.
A wide variety of information stands from UNICEF to "Tierparkfreunde Chemnitz e.V." and many opportunities to feast await the older guests.
The Radio Chemnitz stage on the festival meadow will also be all about the feathered inhabitants of the zoo with games, puzzles and interviews with interesting dialogue partners. There will also be a stage programme with singing, dancing, clowning, magic and acrobatics.
As the highlight of the day, the kindergartens that won the "A bouquet for Chemnitz" birthday campaign will be honoured. All the "bouquets" from the Chemnitz kindergartens can be admired in a tent on the fairground.
And, of course, the zoo residents themselves are also a reason to visit the children's festival.
Incidentally, there are new arrivals: the four bear macaques have been joined by reinforcements from Berlin Zoo. There are now a total of ten somewhat older animals. The group is probably the only group of bear macaques in Germany.
