Children's festival at Chemnitz Zoo on 3 October
Short guided tours and show feedings during the autumn holidays I Tourist motorway sign now points out Chemnitz Zoo
The zoo is once again holding its traditional children's festival on 3 October 2016 from 10 am to 5 pm. The zoo will be open on this day and the weekend before from 9 am to 7 pm.
The theme of this year's festival is: Autumn Festival of Animals. From 10 a.m. there will be a stage programme on the festival meadow, including music, dance performances, an autumn puzzle, acrobatics, the children's show programme "Sonne" and various interviews. There will also be a bouncy castle, carousel, archery and goal wall shooting, a volunteer fire brigade, face painting, information and craft stands and five activity stands spread across the meadow and the zoo grounds. All children who turn up in animal costumes will be entered into a prize draw for a family weekend at the IFA Holiday Park Schöneck. Of course, there will also be plenty of food and drink.
The zoo's support organisation, Tierparkfreunde Chemnitz e.V., is also represented. Incidentally, it financed the zoo's brand new tourist motorway sign, which has been in place on the A72 between Stollberg-Nord and Chemnitz-Süd since Friday. On display are: Tiger, parrot and frog. The zoo would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsoring organisation.
Opening hours of the zoo until 3 October:
9 a.m. to 7 p.m., last admission 6 p.m.
The zoo and wildlife park will once again be interesting excursion destinations for the whole family during the coming autumn holidays. As a holiday highlight, the zookeepers will once again be presenting certain animals or groups of animals from 1 October.
There will be short guided tours of the zoo at 11am:
1 Oct: farm, 2 Oct: vivarium, 3 Oct: hoofed animals, 4 Oct: flamingo, 5 Oct: porcupine, 6 Oct: tiger, 7 Oct: tropical house, 8 Oct: flamingo, 9.10.: Vivarium, 10.10.: Parrots, 11.10.: Kangaroo, 12.10.: Predators, 13.10.: Farm, 14.10.: Tropical House, 15.10.: Camels, 16.10.: Vivarium
The following show feedings take place in the wildlife enclosure at 11 a.m. (not on weekends and public holidays):
Mondays - wolves and lynxes,
Tuesdays - mouflons and wild boar.
Wednesdays - wolves and lynxes,
Thursdays - mouflons and wild boar,
Fridays - wolves and lynxes
