Children's Art Open Air on 23 May on Theaterplatz
Next Wednesday, 23 May, from 9 a.m. to around 10.30 a.m., lots of little artists will be creating great art on Theaterplatz. Around 200 children from municipal daycare centres in the city of Chemnitz will each artistically design one square metre to create a 200 square metre work of art of a special kind.
All interested parties are cordially invited to view the small and large works of art. Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
After the successful and impressive premiere in 2017, this children's art project in cooperation between the Department of Child Day Care Centres of the Office for Youth and Family and the Chemnitz Art Collections is now finding its well-deserved continuation.
The day-care centre children get the inspiration for their artworks in advance during a visit to the art collections. The aim is to familiarise themselves with the life and work of the Chemnitz painter Karl Schmidt-Rottluff. The young artists then use their imagination and crayons to creatively transform this experience on the square metres they have available.
