Children present their view of human rights
Invitation: on 26 January, 4 p.m., F.-A.-W.-Diesterweg-Oberschule
On Friday 26 January at 4 pm*, the pupils of Friedrich-Adolf-Wilhelm-Diesterweg-Oberschule, Kreherstraße 101, will present their view of children's rights at the open day. Ute Spindler, the City of Chemnitz Commissioner for Children and Young People, will accompany the children's rights meeting. The participation of children and young people in learning at school strengthens their self-esteem and personal responsibility.
Representatives of the media are also invited.
The children will present their ideas on living and learning to the guests, parents and classmates and deliver their messages on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. As so-called "human rights observers", they presented their project to the Future Committee. The Future Committee is part of the Future Package for Physical Activity, Culture and Health, a programme of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ).
2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Germany. This was followed by numerous publications and projects on the implementation of children's rights with action partners such as UNICEF and political representatives. The "Human Rights Observers" concept was established at the F.-A.-W.-Diesterweg Secondary School by the Kindervereinigung Chemnitz e. V., the school social worker, the school management and the grade 6 student council.
