Children plan their playground

Ideas wanted for new facility in Pleißenpark - participation possible until 12 March

Until 12 March, children have the opportunity to contribute their own ideas and concepts for a new playground. This is to be created in the neighbourhood park at Pleißenbach, which is to be developed as an attractive green urban space on the site of the former freight depot in Altendorf as part of the Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.

Children can take part themselves or with the help of their parents by completing a questionnaire at this link. The site plan of the playground and a template on which future users can draw their ideas are also available there. Anyone who would like to use Lego, modelling clay, cardboard or other materials in addition to pen and paper to build models can upload photos directly. An important aspect will be that children with different abilities can use this play area.

The new playground will be the centrepiece of the future district park and will be planned together with the children and children's facilities in the area. The questionnaire is therefore also available in various day care centres and primary schools in the vicinity of the park as well as in the Leipziger Straße community centre.

All ideas will be recorded and form the basis for the planners' further work. Regular updates will be provided on the next steps. An exhibition of the work will be organised in late spring.

The coordinator for child and youth participation, Katrin Günther, will answer any enquiries from citizens on 0371 488-1518 or mitmachen(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
