"Children painting in the midst of war" - exhibition
Museum of Natural History: Finissage on 21 October, 5 pm, TIETZ
On Friday, 21 October at 5 pm, the Museum of Natural History Chemnitz and the Kultur-Kunst-Verein "beseder" e. V. invite interested parties to the finissage of the exhibition "Children paint in the midst of war" at the Museum of Natural History in the TIETZ. Admission is free.
At the finissage, visitors can learn more about each individual painting, talk to some of the artists and their mentors and get an impression of the dangerous transport of the artworks from eastern Ukraine under Russian fire: Some of the art schools where the paintings were located are no longer standing.
The exhibition, which is part of the URBAN C programme, can be seen at the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz until 23 October 2022. It includes around 50 drawings by Ukrainian children from the war zone. Some were created during the eight years of war in Ukraine since 2014, others were painted by refugee children in Chemnitz as part of an art therapy programme. Behind all of them are poignant fates, some tragic, some hopeful.
