Children and young people can build raised beds
Museum für Naturkunde: Registration until 15 September
"On the beds, get set, go!" - the Museum für Naturkunde is calling on children, young people and their families to join in with the craftwork: Design your own green oasis and the city you live in. In a joint project, raised beds are being created - for your own home and for community gardens in Chemnitz. The programme is free of charge and aimed at families with children aged five and over.
On 17 September , participants in the UniPaRadieschen community garden will find out why raised beds have become an integral part of gardens. They will explore special friendships in a bed: which plant species like each other and which prefer to avoid each other. Together with the Holzkombinat, they will later test their manual skills and realise the individually planned raised bed for the balcony or garden with the families. A second raised bed is to be built for community gardens in Chemnitz.
The building sessions take place on Thursdays or Fridays from 4 to 8 pm.
The raised beds should be completed by 29 October.

This measure is co-financed with taxpayers' money on the basis of the Catching up after Corona action programme for children and young people.
Last year, families were already hard at work building raised beds for community gardens in the city of Chemnitz. The intercultural garden "mittendrin" and the community gardens Beetkultur of the St. Nikolai-Thomas parish and Karree 49 were thus able to expand their cultivation area and green the urban living space.
