Child and youth emergency service opens doors before start-up
Open afternoons on 13 and 27 September, from 4 to 6 p.m. - facilities will open in October
On Wednesday, 13 September, and Wednesday, 27 September, from 4 to 6 p.m., residents and interested parties are invited to visit the two new facilities of the emergency child and youth services at Reichenhainer Straße 85 and Chopinstraße 2. The staff of the Chemnitz Youth Welfare Office and the operators of the two centres, SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH and Internationale Bund - IB Mitte gGmbH, will be offering tours on two open afternoons and will be happy to talk to interested parties to answer any questions.
The two new inclusive facilities of the emergency child and youth services at Reichenhainer Straße 85 and Chopinstraße 2 have been completed. The rooms are currently being furnished and equipped, then technically inspected and approved by the relevant authorities. They will be officially opened in October. The construction of the two new properties has created modern, barrier-free and safe places for eight young people each, whose families of origin do not provide a suitable home for various reasons.
Following the laying of the foundation stone on 1 March 2022 and the topping-out ceremony on 14 October 2022, the construction project was implemented quickly. The construction schedule was largely adhered to, meaning that the two facilities can now be opened with only a slight delay from summer to autumn.
More than three years ago, the city of Chemnitz, together with the provider SFZ Förderzentrum gGmbH and the youth welfare committee, agreed to give up the previous location of the child and youth emergency service at Flemmingstraße 87 and to start with a new concept and two decentralised houses.
The child and youth emergency service enables children and young people in difficult situations to find peace and quiet in a protected environment for a limited period of time and to develop new perspectives.
