"Chemnitz2025" gallery launched on Citylight posters
Online voting for the Audience Award now open
The open-air gallery "Chemnitz2025" started today with 51 selected works by Chemnitz artists. The gallery can be experienced throughout the city on Citylight posters. Visitors can discover the artistic diversity that is at home in the city in the public exhibition of works by Chemnitz creatives on everyday routes.
In mid-April, the Chemnitz2025 team called on artists from Chemnitz to take part in the open-air exhibition. We were looking for works of all genres, graphics or paintings, production posters or concert photos, fashion sketches or caricatures... regardless of whether they were by professional or amateur artists. The response was enormous.
182 artists submitted works of art for this project. Of these, 51 works were selected for the open-air exhibition by the jury headed by Diana Kopka (curator of the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz), Matthias Zwarg (cultural journalist for the Freie Presse), Frank Weinhold (organiser of the Begehungen art festival), Kati Halama (designer), Simone Becht and Jenny Zichner from the Chemnitz2025 team.
The jurors also selected three prize winners:
Ingolf Höhl won the first prize, endowed with 1500 euros, for his work "Sisyphos", while the second prize, endowed with 1000 euros, went to Maria Tomasa Llera Pérez with the motif "Zwickauer Straße 09112" and the third prize, worth 500 euros, went to Steffen Jacob with the tongue-in-cheek entry "Metronom".
A website for the project provides an overview of all the works, introduces the respective artists and links to a direct contact so that interested parties can also become art buyers. The link to the website is displayed on all posters via a QR code.
