Chemnitz Zoo: Tips for the summer holidays
Evening tours on Fridays at 7.30 pm and guided tour "Queer Animals" for CSD
Chemnitz Zoo is once again offering special guided tours during the summer holidays:
Evening guided tours
What do the animals in the zoo actually do in the evening or at night? Who goes to sleep and who only really wakes up in the evening? These and other questions will be explored here. Every Friday during the summer holidays there will be an evening tour of Chemnitz Zoo. The tour starts at 7.30 pm and lasts approx. 90 minutes.
Participation in the tour costs 10 euros per person and the number of participants is limited.
On 30 July, 13 and 27 August , participation is suitable for children aged 6 and over.
On 6 and 20 August and 3 September, the minimum age for participation is 12 years. However, the programme is of course also aimed at adults.
Registration at tierpark(at)stadt-chemnitz.de is required by the Thursday before (by 3 pm). Once registration has been confirmed, tickets can be purchased at the Tierpark ticket office during regular opening hours. (For organisational reasons, there will be no box office. Cancellations are also not possible).
The currently valid hygiene rules must be observed during the evening tour. Masks must be worn by all participants when entering the animal houses. Participation with dogs is not possible.

Christopher Street Day will take place again in Chemnitz on 31 July. And since homosexuality is not just a human phenomenon, Chemnitz Zoo is offering a special guided tour on Friday 30 July at 5 pm and Saturday 31 July at 10 am on the subject of "Homosexuality in the animal kingdom - of queer animals".
Homosexual behaviour is known in more than 1000 animal species. One in ten guinea pigs, for example, is gay. Homosexual couples are also not uncommon among penguins and flamingos. At the zoo, bactrian camel mares have already been observed having sexual contact with each other.
The one-hour tour has a few amorous curiosities in store for everyone. Participation is free of charge. (Only the entrance fee has to be paid).
Due to the limited number of participants (max. 20 people per tour), please register in advance by calling (0371) 488 4800 or sending an e-mail to tierpark(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
