On Sunday, 2 July, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the German Red Cross and Chemnitz Zoo are jointly inviting people to donate blood for the 10th time. Chemnitz Zoo is thus committed to providing patients in the region with vital blood products.

Since the first event at the zoo in 2008, a total of 989 blood donors have taken part. This year, the team from the DRK Blood Donor Service North-East is expecting the 1000th donor and the 250th first-time donor.

The blood donation will take place in the Tierparkschule (please bring your ID with you). After donating blood, all donors will receive a refund of the entrance fee for themselves and an accompanying child as well as a snack voucher.

The supporting programme for children with various stations this year has the motto "The best games from 10 years". The main attraction is the zoo's "animal" hosts.

On this occasion, you can also marvel at the zoo's newest offspring, such as the Bernier ducks in the tropical house or the snowy owls. The older young animals, such as the dwarf goats, are also always worth a visit.

In addition, the music mix mobile of the radio station MDR SACHSEN - Das Sachsenradio will be a guest on the festival meadow on Sunday afternoon between 2 and 3 pm.

Opening hours:

Chemnitz Zoo: 9 am to 7 pm, last admission 6 pm

Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park: 8 am to 6 pm
