Cyclists can register for CITY CYCLING from 1 to 21 September starting in April
Chemnitz will be taking part in CITY CYCLING again this year and registered with Climate Alliance on 15 March. The Chemnitz campaign period begins on 1 September and ends on 21 September - this year for the first time with the #chemnitzdrehtamradtour as the final cycle tour.
Cyclists can register for CITY CYCLING 2023 from April and over the next few months. Further information on the campaign and registration can be found at: www.chemnitz.de/stadtradeln
Chemnitz took part in CITY CYCLING for the second time in 2022. Last year, 2,181 people from Chemnitz took part in the campaign organised by the Climate Alliance. During the three-week campaign period, they cycled 337,978 kilometres, saving 52 tonnes of CO2 compared to driving a car. They thus drew attention to the concerns of cyclists and made a contribution to their own health and to climate protection.
Use of RiDE data from the year 2022
Almost 850 Chemnitz residents provided their recorded CITY CYCLING data anonymously to the RiDE portal. The RiDE portal provides scientifically evaluated data for municipal cycling planning. The data obtained is also of enormous value for cycle traffic planning in Chemnitz, as no comparable data basis existed previously. (see illustrations)
