The Chemnitz Valley cycle path on the Borna bridge between the Fischweg bridge and Heinersdorfer Straße was officially opened today. This morning, the City of Chemnitz, the local construction supervision firm Ingenieurbüro Melioplan GmbH and the construction company "Am Scheibenberg" mbH BAS, which is carrying out the work, carried out the final inspection.

This section was the most heavily damaged during the floods in summer 2013. Construction work began in mid-November 2014 and was completed at the beginning of June, meaning that the cycle path can now be used again two weeks before the planned completion date following the final inspection.

The city of Chemnitz invested 195,000 euros in the renovation of the cycle path.

Construction work on the Chemnitz Valley cycle path between Heinersdorfer Straße and Untere Hauptstraße will resume in August. No further work on the cycle path is currently permitted due to nature conservation regulations. Nevertheless, the cycle path should be completed at this point by December 2015.
