On Thursday, 21 September, the final CITY CYCLING tour through Chemnitz took place for the first time. 250 Chemnitz residents responded to the call to pedal together once again. The almost 14-kilometre cycle tour led past the Karl Marx Monument and through the Zeisigwald forest, among other places. Mayor Knut Kunze gave the starting signal at 5 pm. In his welcoming address before the start, he said: "We can see that CITY CYCLING is not just a mere kilometre collection campaign. With your mobility behaviour, you are showing that you are actively committed to more sustainable mobility in Chemnitz. With the anonymised app data, you are making your contribution to better transport planning. Transport planning that can take a closer look at the needs of cyclists."

CITY CYCLING set new standards in Chemnitz this year: 3,185 people registered, 2,893 active cyclists contributed 621,191 kilometres. This corresponds to a CO2 saving of 101 tonnes compared to using a car. This means that all figures from previous years were exceeded. There was an increase of almost 84 per cent in the number of kilometres, and CO2 avoidance almost doubled.

Participants can still add their kilometres until 27 September 2023. This can be done in the CITY CYCLING app, at www.stadtradeln.de or with the analogue kilometre log sheet.

The winners in the various categories will be announced after the end of the supplementary deadline. The award ceremony will take place at the annual event of the "Healthy Chemnitz" working group on 17 November 2023.
