Nico Ihle signs the city's Golden Book on 5 April at 2 pm
Nico Ihle will receive a big welcome next Wednesday, 5 April from 2 p.m. in the Green Salon of Chemnitz Town Hall. The speed skater from Chemnitz will sign the city's Golden Book. The reason for this is his outstanding performance this winter at the individual track world championships in Gangneung/South Korea.
The 31-year-old from Chemnitz skated to silver in the 500 metres in 34.66 seconds, beaten only by Jan Smeekens from the Netherlands (34.58). Bronze went to Ruslan Murashov (Russia/34.76).
Nico Ihle thus celebrated his greatest career success to date and crowned his 2016/2017 season on the ice in South Korea. In addition to the World Championship silver medal, he won the World Cups over the short sprint distance in Nagano and Berlin and finished third at the European Championships in Heerenveen in January.
Sports enthusiasts from Chemnitz and other interested parties are cordially invited to attend the signing of the Golden Book on 5 April at 2 p.m. in the Grüner Salon of Chemnitz Town Hall.
