Chemnitz tests digital opening strategies
In the coming weeks, the city of Chemnitz will be testing several apps that could make it easier for shops and events to open soon. To this end, the city is working with several partners and reviewing the entire "process chain". It looks like this:
Installing the app, carrying out a quick test and saving the result, access to facilities or events with the negative test result in the app. A very important component is also the possibility of contact tracing by the public health department in the event of contact with infected persons.
This digital approach will make it much easier for operators and event organisers to meet the requirements for providing evidence, simplify implementation overall, better implement data protection requirements and increase the speed at which health authorities can react when chains of infection are interrupted.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "The desire for openings and a way back to 'normal' life is very understandable. However, as long as the pandemic is still active, we must endeavour to ensure the tracing of infections in particular. These systems should support us in this and I hope that many Chemnitz residents will join us on this journey after the test phase."
In connection with the federal government's expanded testing strategy and the planned changes to the coronavirus regulations, the primary goal remains to be able to quickly break chains of infection and trace contacts of infected persons within the shortest possible time. These digital channels - not only as an app on a smartphone - should enable faster and safer openings under infection control conditions.
After the test phase, suitable systems will then be used in Chemnitz.
