Chemnitz successes at the national "Jugend musiziert" competition

This year's national "Jugend musiziert" competition took place last week in Halle/Saale. The Chemnitz participants returned home with extraordinary successes.

Five pupils from the Municipal Music School faced over 60 judges from all over Germany. Anna-Lena Kreher, accordion, and the trio with Maximilian Zaunick, violin, Matthias Wagner, cello and Jonathan Morgenstern, piano, were awarded very good marks. Margarita Luisa Maposse from the rock/pop/jazz section achieved the highest score in the singing (pop) category with 25 points: an exceptional achievement!

The "Jugend musiziert" competition is organised in three stages. Around 1,300 pupils take part in the regional competitions in Saxony every year. 29 music students from Chemnitz qualified for this year's state competition in Leipzig. 26 teachers have helped and accompanied them this far. Ten pupils received a first prize at the state competition and five of them were forwarded to the national competition, the other five were too young for this.
