Chemnitz-Siegmar youth fire brigade takes part in national competition
The members of the Chemnitz-Siegmar youth fire brigade successfully took part in a state-wide fire brigade competition in Groitzsch in the district of Leipzig. From 16 to 18 June, young firefighters from all parts of Saxony met to take part in the Saxon championships of the Saxon youth fire brigades in the national competition.
Chemnitz was represented in the competitions by the Chemnitz-Siegmar youth fire brigade under the leadership of youth warden Andreas Richter.
A total of 13 youth fire brigade teams took part in the national competition. Children and young people completed a challenging programme of firefighting and sporting activities, including a firefighting attack with an obstacle course, knot-tying for time, a 400-metre relay race and various timed tasks, such as rolling hoses and putting on equipment.
The young firefighters from Chemnitz entered the competition with the youngest team and achieved a really good 4th place. The Chemnitz-Siegmar youth fire brigade team includes ten boys aged between 10 and 18.
After the Chemnitz-Siegmar youth fire brigade has won the travelling trophy of the Minister of the Interior several times, they can now call the first travelling trophy their own. This was presented to the team this weekend.
