Chemnitz receives 380,000 euros in funding for social projects
"Catching up after Corona" programme benefits children and young people
The city of Chemnitz has received funding of 380,000 euros from the "Catching up after Corona for children and young people" action programme. The Youth Welfare Office has received the funding notification from the Saxony Municipal Social Association (KSV). The projects are 100 per cent funded by the funding programme.
The specialist offices of the Department of Education, Social Affairs, Youth, Culture and Sport are currently working together with independent partners to implement the proposed measures. Some projects, such as family recreation times and experience-oriented offers, have already started with the summer holidays, others are due to start in autumn.
The funds are to be used, among other things, for project work in youth welfare, parental work, support and remedial teaching and experiential education day trips. In addition, Chemnitz sports clubs will receive grants for holiday camps. The Chemnitz Art Collections, the Municipal Music School and the Museum of Natural History are also planning programmes.
Background:
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, daycare centres, schools, sports clubs and much more were often completely or partially closed for over a year. In order to make up for what has been missed, not only in terms of learning, but above all in social life, the German government has adopted the "Catching up after corona for children and young people" action programme worth two billion euros for the years 2021 and 2022.
