Chemnitz Peace Prize 2019
Proposals can be submitted until 15 January 2019
On 4 March 2019 - in the run-up to the Chemnitz Peace Day on 5 March - the Chemnitz Peace Prize will be awarded for the 16th time by the citizens' association FUER CHEMNITZ e.V. in cooperation with the city's migration officer, Etelka Kobuß.
Individuals, organisations, projects and initiatives that make a contribution to non-violent coexistence, ensure a peaceful Chemnitz and promote the coexistence of different cultures can be honoured and recognised. All Chemnitz residents, organisations and initiatives are invited to nominate suitable individuals and projects. Self-applications are also possible. The deadline for applications is 15 January 2019.
Members of the jury will review and visit the proposals. The jury, made up of well-known personalities from the city of Chemnitz, will jointly assess the proposals. The first prize consists of a sculpture by Chemnitz sculptor Erik Neukirchner and prize money totalling 500 euros. The second and third place winners can look forward to prize money of 300 euros and 200 euros respectively. An honorary prize may also be awarded for decades of work for a peaceful Chemnitz.
