Chemnitz Peace Prize 2013: Submit proposals by 31 January 2013
In 2013, the citizens' association FUER CHEMNITZ e. V. is awarding the Chemnitz Peace Prize for the tenth time in cooperation with the Crime Prevention Council and the City of Chemnitz's Commissioner for Foreigners.
We are looking for organisations, initiatives, projects, associations and individuals who stand up for tolerance, peaceful coexistence and against xenophobia. They should promote and support non-violent coexistence, understand the integration of different cultures as an essential part of our coexistence, stand up for basic values such as tolerance, democracy, peacefulness and interculturality and take a stand against marginalisation, xenophobia and racism. Important criteria for awarding the Chemnitz Peace Prize are creativity, continuity and sustainability.
Chemnitz citizens can nominate institutions, initiatives, projects, associations and individuals for this year's prize until 31 January 2013. It is also possible to nominate yourself. The proposals should be sent to the Bürgerverein für Chemnitz e.V. by post (Augustusburger Straße 33 in 09111 Chemnitz) or by email buergerverein.fuer-chemnitz(at)epost.de. In addition to the project description, visual material, video recordings, photos, PC files etc. can also be attached to the documents.
The Peace Prize jury will assess the proposals and members of the jury may visit the nominees. The prize will be awarded on 3 March 2012 at 4 pm in the Council Chamber, two days before the anniversary of the bombing of Chemnitz, the Chemnitz Peace Day. The awarding of the Peace Prize is supported by the City of Chemnitz and the company eins energie in sachsen GmbH und Co KG.
