Chemnitz Peace Day: Information from the traffic authority and the police department
With the Peace Day this coming Saturday, Chemnitz is once again setting an example for democracy, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and cosmopolitanism, against hatred and neo-fascism. The Chemnitz Peace Day working group and the citizens' initiative Aktion © as well as many other committed people have prepared an even more extensive programme than in previous years. Traffic restrictions in the city centre
Due to the events and demonstrations for the Chemnitz Peace Day on
5 March 2016 and various registered assemblies on the following Sunday, there will be traffic restrictions in the city centre between 1 pm and 6 pm. This applies in particular around the authorised demonstration routes.
In order to minimise disruption to the flow of traffic, the police will be making operational road closures during the individual demonstrations and rallies. However, the traffic restrictions that may occur as part of the authorised events should be kept as short and minimal as possible.

between 5 pm and 6 pm:
Straße der Nationen - Henriettenstraße - Kaßbergstraße - Kaßbergauffahrt - Hartmannstraße - Theaterstraße - Webergasse - Hohe Straße - Reichsstraße - Zwickauer Straße - Glockenstraße - Dresdner Platz - Waisenstraße - Bahnhofstraße - Brückenstraße

On 6 March 2016, the short-stay car park and the taxi ranks on the forecourt of the main station will also be closed from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm due to the establishment of a restricted no-stopping zone. Visitors and travellers of DB AG are requested to use the surrounding multi-storey and underground car parks.
The taxi ranks at the main station, which are also closed, will be relocated to Bahnhofstraße between Carolastraße and Waisenstraße.
Visitors and residents of the city centre may experience temporary traffic disruptions, particularly in the areas of Bahnhofstraße, Falkeplatz, Theaterstraße, Mühlenstraße and Georgstraße.

On Sunday, the Chemnitz Police Department will be operating a citizens' hotline from 12 noon to 9 pm.
