Chemnitz on the road in neighbouring countries
The city of Chemnitz and the European Capital of Culture 2025 will be in neighbouring countries on various occasions next weekend. Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and Mayor of Culture Dagmar Ruscheinsky will be visiting Wrocław and Usti nad Labem.
Lord Mayor launches the European Peace Ride
Mayor Sven Schulze will give the starting signal for the European Peace Ride (EPR) on Saturday, 3 September at 7 am. The 120 athletes will set off from Wrocław in Poland via Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic to Chemnitz in two stages. After more than 430 kilometres and 5000 metres in altitude, the cyclists are expected to reach the finish line on Brückenstraße on Sunday afternoon. The EPR is one of the flagship projects of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
On the eve of the EPR, the Lord Mayor of Chemnitz will meet Krzysztof Maj, Marshal of the Lower Silesia region, responsible for culture and tourism and former Director of ECoC Wrocław 20156, the First Deputy Mayor of Wrocław, Jakub Mazur, and the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Poland, Martin Kremer, among others.

Open day at the German Consulate General in Wrocław
Chemnitz will present itself as European Capital of Culture 2025 on Saturday, 3 September at an open day at the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Wrocław. The city will be represented by Mayor of Culture Dagmar Ruscheinsky.
A garage will be set up in the consulate's garden, inviting visitors to explore and referencing one of the central motifs of Chemnitz's successful bid for the title. The programme there includes the presentation of the projects of the Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 and its protagonists, musical highlights with bandoneon and hip-hop, culinary Chemnitz delicacies and the "culture beer" as well as various hands-on activities. The Multimedia Biennale Pochen invites visitors to Chemnitz with interactive content, while the Maker Fair introduces makers from Chemnitz and invites them to exchange ideas.
Visit by the Mayor of Culture to twin city Usti nad Labem
On Friday, 2 September, Mayor of Culture Dagmar Ruscheinsky will visit Chemnitz's twin city Ústí nad Labem. She will meet her counterpart Tomáš Vlach there.
Together, they will welcome the runners of the Laufkultour, who are currently on their way, to the Ústí nad Labem Information Centre that evening. They will also visit the Collegium Bohemicum Museum (exhibition "Our Germans") with museum director Vaclav Houfek.
The delegation also includes the director of the Chemnitz City Library, Corinna Meinel, who is visiting her counterparts at the Noth Bohemian Research Library to discuss possible cooperation between the two institutions.
