Chemnitz Museum Night returns after two years
Museum and art landscape opens on 14 May, 6 pm to 1 am
After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the Museum Night in Chemnitz and the cultural region will take place again on Saturday, 14 May. This year, museums, collections and other cooperation partners from the cultural region are expanding the programme for the first time. From 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., the institutions at around 25 locations invite you to a nocturnal excursion through the museum and art landscape.
Advance ticket sales start on 25 April. As in previous Museum Nights, a special shuttle bus and train service will be set up so that guests can explore the programme freely and flexibly.
The theme of this year's Chemnitz Museum Night 2022, which takes place in direct proximity to International Museum Day on 15 May, will be "The Unseen". It will showcase collections, working methods and information that are less well-known or not in the spotlight. The aim is to showcase museum collections that have not been presented for a long time or at all and are therefore unseen, in order to surprise visitors and showcase the diversity of the museum landscape in Chemnitz and the cultural region. The theme is based on the motto of the Capital of Culture application "C the Unseen".
From art to industrial history to railways, the 2022 Museum Night will cover a wide range of topics in the main programme and will be a night-time showcase of the regional museum landscape. The Chemnitz museums and collections as well as partners from Central Saxony are taking part.
The special programme of galleries and institutions will feature multifaceted contemporary art and historical explorations in Chemnitz galleries and churches.
The complete programme with all participating institutions and partners will be available in a programme booklet and a web version. It will be subject to the corona rules in force at the time.
Note for journalists: A press conference is also planned for the end of April, for which a separate invitation will be sent out.
Tickets:
Tickets for the Museum Night will cost 10 euros, concessions 5 euros. They are also valid as tickets for city transport and on certain regional transport lines. Admission is free for children and young people up to the age of 18. Tickets go on sale on 25 April 2022 and are available from the CVAG mobility centre, the tourist information office on the market square, in the foyer of the TIETZ and at the museums and institutions.
