Chemnitz museums, collections, galleries and institutions, together with the City of Chemnitz/Cultural Office, invite you to a night-time discovery tour through the city's museum and art landscape on Saturday, 25 May from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at 28 locations. On this year's discovery tour, visitors can expect an exquisite programme with more than 60 exhibitions and over 100 unique offers for young and old and, of course, for the whole family.
This year's "Special Offer" brings together large buses and small trains in a fascinating way. In the CVAG bus depot on Werner-Seelenbinder-Straße, the 10th international model tram exhibition "Kleine Bahn Ganz Groß" will be shown on an area of 2,000 m² with around 50 exhibitors from Germany and abroad. Visitors can learn interesting and astonishing facts about the large buses during guided tours of the CVAG bus depot.
Another attraction will certainly be the "Window into the history of the earth" on Glockenstraße. There, the Museum of Natural History will open a new excavation site of fossilised artefacts on Museum Night.
Museum night visitors, who last year tried in vain to visit the former GDR secret police detention centre on Kaßberg due to the high level of interest, will once again have the opportunity this year to gain an insight into the fate of political prisoners and everyday life in prison at the time.
The State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz - the official opening is planned for spring 2014 - will inform interested visitors about the future design and work of the museum on guided tours.
In addition, the programme for the 2013 Museum Night in Chemnitz has something worthwhile, surprising, fashionable and puzzling in store, as well as musical and tasty treats for young and old.

Service: Visitors to the Museum Night can get to the night-time venues on six tours by bus and train.
Tickets: Museum Night tickets for adults costing 8 euros and youth tickets for 3 euros (also valid for concessions) are available in advance from Monday, 6 May at the Tourist Information Office on the market square, at the CVAG Mobility Centre at the central bus stop and at the museums during their respective opening hours, as well as at the box offices of the museums and institutions on Museum Night.
Admission is free for children up to the age of 14.
