Chemnitz Municipal Prevention Council
Evaluation of the measures already underway from the security conference
The Crime Prevention Council has changed its name to the Municipal Prevention Council. This was decided by the members of the Crime Prevention Council at the end of August. The background to this is that the Saxon concept for more safety in the municipalities (ASSKOMM) is intended to set a different focus. Chemnitz supports the Saxon strategy, which involves focussing more on early prevention. At the same time, the renaming is a sign that prevention is an important municipal matter.
Further content of the consultation was the evaluation of the measures already underway, which were initiated based on the suggestions made by citizens at the last safety conference. The desire for better networking between partners from the administration was very often expressed in order to be able to solve problems across competences and responsibilities. This coordination is very successful, as the authorities responsible for security and order regularly discuss the respective problem situations and agree on specific measures. One example of this is the regular updating of the police and public order office's control priorities. The strategy of joint patrols by the police and public order service will also be continued. With regard to cleanliness in the city, the ASR receives information on problem areas and tries to find solutions.
One of the findings of the safety conference is that citizens feel safe where they are taken care of. Look instead of looking away - then Chemnitz will remain a safe city. The KPR appeals to citizens to report criminal offences without fail. Only then can a realistic picture of the crime situation be created. In addition, reports enable the police to take targeted action in the event of regional clusters of offences. This in turn leads to a preventative effect.
