Chemnitz Klangnacht brings the second day of the German Music Festival to a brilliant close
Numerous competitions, specialist lectures, first-class concerts and music in the open air characterised today's events: At the end of the second day of the 5th German Music Festival, the Chemnitz Neumarkt was bathed in sound, light, moving images and moving music. Together, the Federal Association of German Music Associations (BDMV), the City of Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Artists' Association have created a Chemnitz Night of Sound, which will make the city centre sound and light up at 10 pm.
The sound night will be heralded in the truest sense of the word by the Chemnitz Carillon in the tower of the New Town Hall. The Chemnitz carilloneur Dr Sebastian Liebold will be playing. While the carillon is playing, a multivision show begins, which can be seen on the town hall façade.
Detlef Schweiger is responsible for the concept and the artistic, organisational and technical management. Participants are Barbara Christina Steude (soprano), Balog (bass), SARDH / Voxus IMP Sounds and Hillumination.
Afterwards, the North Bavarian Youth Wind Orchestra, conducted by Ernst Oestreicher, will perform works ranging from popular classical music to symphonic interpretations of rock classics. Admission is free.

Accessibility Press Office German Music Festival
In addition to the "Sounding BDMV" exhibition, the press office for the four days of the festival can also be found in the Chemnitz City Hall. The Bundesvereinigung deutscher Musikverbände e. V. (BDMV) and the City of Chemnitz will be jointly available to media representatives. The press office will be open from 9 am. A press lounge will be set up in the Salon am Tropenhaus, where media representatives can obtain accreditation, ask questions and work.

To the 5th German Music Festival
The 5th German Music Festival will take place in Chemnitz from 9 to 12 May 2013. Around 15,000 musicians and an estimated 150,000 visitors from all over Germany and its neighbouring countries are expected to attend Germany's largest music festival. The organiser of the German Music Festival, the Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Musikverbände e.V., together with the Sächsischer Blasmusikverband e. V. and the city of Chemnitz, will present a rich programme of concerts, musical competitions, lectures and symposia with renowned lecturers and speakers throughout the city centre. The 5th German Music Festival is supported by the Ostdeutsche Sparkassenstiftung together with the Sparkasse Chemnitz, the federal government, the Free State of Saxony, the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen, Verbundnetz Gas AG and eins energie in sachsen, among others.
