Chemnitz honours deserving firefighters

The Chemnitz professional fire brigade is supported in its operations by volunteers from the 15 volunteer fire brigades. Many members of the volunteer fire brigades have been dedicating their free time to the safety of the city for decades. Whenever they are called out, they are ready to save lives, avert danger and minimise damage - be it during the day, at night or at weekends. Every year in November, the city of Chemnitz takes this commitment as an opportunity to honour members of the professional fire brigade as well as long-serving comrades from the volunteer brigades.

In the presence of Mayor Barbara Ludwig, Mayor Sven Schulze will honour 42 members of the volunteer fire brigades and the Chemnitz professional fire brigade for their many years of dedicated service on Thursday, 29 November at 6 pm. 34 of the honourees will attend the ceremony in person in the City Council Chamber.
