Chemnitz honoured for cycling
Yesterday, Chemnitz was awarded the title of "AUFHOLER" by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club e. V. Sachsen (ADFC). At the presentation of the bicycle climate test for Saxony in Dresden, Chemnitz was honoured for the greatest improvement in the overall ranking compared to 2012 among Saxon cities with more than 200,000 inhabitants.
The city sees this award as recognition of the systematic work to improve conditions for cyclists in Chemnitz and as an incentive to continue to implement the outstanding tasks for realising the cycling concept.
Nationwide, Chemnitz came 14th in the city ranking of 39 major cities; in 2012 it was still in 20th place.
Leipzig (9th place) and Dresden (20th place) both improved their rankings by one place.
