Chemnitz fire brigade brings donations to twin city Łódź
Lorry with 15 pallets of relief supplies arrives in the Polish town
Yesterday, employees of the City of Chemnitz took 15 pallets of donations to the Polish twin city of Łódź. These relief supplies will be used by Łódź to support and care for the Ukrainian refugees.
A lorry from the professional fire brigade brought the donations, worth a total of around 15,000 euros, directly from Chemnitz to the central donation warehouse in the centre of Łódź.
The donated items, which the Mayor of Łódź, Hanna Zdanowska, had requested in a letter to Mayor Sven Schulze, included nappies, toiletries, bed linen, tables, chairs, laundry, juice, tinned food and baby food.
More than 60,000 refugees from Ukraine have arrived in the Polish twin city of Łódź so far. Łódź has around 700,000 inhabitants. By comparison, Chemnitz has taken in 1,600 refugees to date.
The social media team of the city of Chemnitz accompanied the transport live, the highlights are available on the Instagram channel (@stadt_chemnitz).
