Chemnitz Father Christmas in the city's Golden Book

Mayor Barbara Ludwig honours the Chemnitz citizen Hans Lange

InChemnitz today, Father Christmas signed the city's Golden Book: Hans Lange, who has given Father Christmas in Chemnitz a dedicated profile, figure and voice over the past 21 years, was given this special honour. Mayor Barbara Ludwig honoured the merits of the well-known Chemnitz citizen by inscribing him in the Golden Book and paying tribute to his dedicated work.

Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "For more than 20 years, Hans Lange has held one of the most beautiful honorary positions in the world - and for doing so with so much heart and dedication, he deserves a place in our city's Golden Book."

Now 85 years old, Hans Lange has spent more than two decades in Chemnitz giving impressive shape to the famous figure of the white-bearded old man in the long red coat in the run-up to Christmas. Over the past 21 years, his impressive and lovable Father Christmas has been much admired by young and old alike at the traditional opening of the Chemnitz Christmas market and every evening on the big stage. Now Father Christmas Hans Lange wants to retire and has already handed over the sceptre to his successor Claus Höhne and long-time Father Christmas "assistant".
